Cambridge Rock Festival, 2016 |
|
A Bit About The FestivalThe 12th Cambridge Rock Festival was held again at Haggis Farm Polo Club in August.
The C.R.F. was initially known as the Rockinbeerfest, features three stages, all of which are fully covered so the audience can be protected from either rain or excessive sunshine if they wish. This year they were even bigger and better than before, with superb sound (and engineers that don't over-amplify!) and lights and again a fantastic line-up of almost 100 classic rock, progressive rock and blues and acoustic acts, a real-ale bar with over 80 choices and perhaps most importantly of all the friendliest atmosphere you could hope for.
The CRF is run entirely by volunteers, although you would notice due to their professionalism. Many bands said it was one of the best, and best run, they had played.
This year's line-up was exceptionally strong, the final day in particular being labelled 'Super Sunday' by festival-goers (the Olympics were taking place at the same time!). This year Stage 2 was loosely dedicated to blues, with an enlarged stage 3 being used by the Classic Rock Society on Friday, with acoustic music in the early part of each other day and hard rock in the evening.
Addenbrooke's Rocks! This year's main festival was preceded by an additional charity day in aid of Addenbrooke's Hospital, taking place on the main stage only, on Wednesday. All ticket sale money for this evening went to the Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust, with the CRF organisers donating use of all of the imfrastructure and providing many of the staff.

All main stage bands are shown except Pearl Handled Revolver, plus some of the bands on the other stages. Other CRF duties precluded seeing some of the bands.
