The Room formed in 2010 around the core of Martin Wilson (vocals) and Steve Anderson (guitar) who were then also both members of UK progressive rock band Grey Lady Down. They were joined by Andy Rowe (bass), Andrew Rae (drums) and Steve Checkley (keyboards), though Chris York later took over on drums. 2018 saw a further change, with the arrival of a second guitarist, Eric Bouillette, and Mark Dixon on keyboards, subsequently replaced by Chris Teeder. Sadly Eric passed away in 2022 and the band are seeking a full-time replacement.

Developing their own variant of a neo-prog style, they released a debut single in 2011 and album in 2012, with a follow-up album in 2015 and a third in 2018, plus another single 'Broken' with video recorded before the audience at the Cambridge Rock Festival.
