Predatur started out in 1976 with their classic line-up of Baz Barry (guitar/vocals),
John Benham (guitar), Steve Coppuck (bass) and Sam Savin (drums, playing mostly their
brand of boogie in the south east from the Reading base, regularly to packed out audiences.
Along with Twelfth Night they were THE bans from the town, albeit with a very different
sound, and a healthy but (behind the scenes) friendly rivalry. Playing in front of
thousands at the some of Rockerama gigs often meant blowing away the other, much better
known bands on the bill. Vinyl single 'Take A Walk' is now said to be worth, well,
a lot!
They are regulars at Status Quo conventions; for a while all but the Predatur drummer
formed the rest of John Coghlan's Quo, with Baz, Mick Hughes (guitar) and Pete Knight
(bass)
Through the years line-up changed and by 2020 they'd had the mk11 line-up for some
years, with the ever present Baz leading the way, step-son Jack Capon on drums, Charles
Grear (guitar) and Steve Jones on bass.
