The original Wishbone Ash band formed in 1969 comprising Martin Turner (bass/vocals),
Andy Powell (guitar), Ted Turner (not realted to Martin) (guitar) and Steve Upton
(drums). They had great success with early albums including Pilgrimage and Wishbone
Four and in particular the iconic album Argus. During this time the more or less pioneered
the twin lead guitar sound. However, through the 70s and 80s they went through various
line-up changes.
Martin Turner had left in 1980, but in 2004 formed his own version of the band known
as 'Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash' with Ray Hatfield and Danny Willson on guitars and
Dave Wagstaffe on drums.
In 2013, Tim Brown replaced Dave Wagstaffe, and following a court case the band's
name was changed to 'Martin Turner plays the music of Wishbone Ash'. In 2015 Misha
Nikolic replaced Ray Hatfield and the band's name changed again to simply 'Martin
Turner ex Wishbone Ash'.
