Kyneska comprise Aislinn O'Neill (bass guitar and vocals), Ceara O'Neill (guitars
and backing vocals) and Siobhan O'Neill (drums and occasional vocals). They formed
from the ashes of Emerald Sky when they were forced to change name in 2011 after objections
were made to their attempts to register their band name.
Their first live appearance was in support of The Hamsters, where they started the
event as Emerald Sky and announced the name change midway through, completing it as
Kyneska. There second appearance was at Gosport Festival. Their first album under
this name is due out at the start of 2013, together with promotional videos.
As Emerald Sky they released two albums; the latter (Shadows Of Darkness) met with
critical success. Under that name they appeared at many festival, including the Cambridge
Rock Festival in 2009 and 2010.
The band build some of their own instruments and record, produce and market their
own material. Siobhan was a UK junior chess champion (and played World number 1 Gary
Kasparov) - she also represented GB at tennis (and played world number 1 Ana Ivanovic
in that sport too) - a claim few, if any, other drummers can match! Ceara and Aislinn
have also represented GB at tennis and all three have appeared in some of the Harry
Potter movies, Downton Abbey and were regulars in Holby City for many years when not
recording or playing live.
