Curved Air's history goes right back to 1968 when drummer Florian Pilkington-Miksa and Rob Martin met guitarist/keyboard player Francis Monkman and violinist Darryl Way. Later that year they auditioned singer Sonja Kristina and Curved Air were born.

Many years, albums and line-up changes later Sonja and Florian carry the band forward to both their old fans and a new audience, initially with Kit Morgan on guitar, then replaced when former member Kirby Gregory rejoined. Violin virtuoso Paul Sax is now a long-term replacement for Darryl Way, with Robert Norton on keyboards and Chris Harris on bass. In 2016 Kirby Gregory decided to leave to spend more time working with the Action On Addiction charity, with Kit Morgan returning. However he left again to be replaced for a while by former Purson guitarist George Hudson before Kirby Gregory returned. Meanwhile Florian Pilkington-Miksa retired to be replaced by Andy Tween and Grzegorz Gadziomski took over on violin.
