Colosseum formed in 1968 and were one of the earliest bands to fuse jazz, rock and
blues and many would say no-one did it better. Featuring top musicians throughout,
they only survived for three years before splitting up, before reuniting in 1994 until
2015 when they played their final gig.
Led by drummer Jon Hiseman and vocalist Chris Farlowe, they also featured Dave Greenslade
on keyboards and Clem Clempson on guitar. In the early days they included Dick Heckstall-Smith
on sax and Tony Reeves on bass; in their latter era they were replaced by Barbara
Thompson and Mark Clarke respectively.
