The legendary Atomic Rooster formed in originally formed in 1969 featuring two members
of The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, organist Vincent Crane (keyboards) and Carl Palmer
(drums) who left soon after to form ELP. The next five years saw numerous line-up
changes, with Vincent Crane being the only continuing presence, plus five albums and
two big hit singles, both in 1971. They split up in 1975, to reform in 1980 for three
more years, two more albums, many more line-up changes and arguably a different sound.
In 2016 the band reformed again to play for the first time in over thirty years at
the Cambridge Rock Festival, featuring early members Steve Bolton on guitars and Pete
French on vocals, plus Shug Millidge on bass, Bo Walsh (drums) and initially Christian
Madden on keyboards, subsequently replaced for a few years by the multi-talented Adrian
Gautrey and later by Ross Munro.Bo Walsh also left to be replaced on drums by Paul
Everet.
