Asia formed in 1982 as one of the eighties earliest supergroups, with Carl Palmer (ex E.L.P) on drums, John Wetton (ex King Crimson) on bass and vocals, Steve Howe (ex Yes) on guitars and Geoff Downes (ex Buggles and also Yes) on keyboards. After a number of successful singles and a couple of high selling albums, various members left and the nucleus changed. The original band reformed in 2008 and have been touring since, although the members are also all involved in other projects.
